  There are no modern tools in this kit. The purpose is to give you the experience of producing a petroglyph in much the same manner and with the same tools that were used by ancient Americans. The chipping tool is made of quartz. You should use the most pointed part of the rock to do the chipping. The rock blanks have a natural coating. When chipped leaves the lighter rock exposed. The rocks provided were gather in a n area frequented by early American artists.
  
  The Meaning behind the majority ancient rock art is a mystery. Some may be for religious purposes, some to tell a story, some might be messages, some might have been done for simple enjoyment, which is what I wish for you as you do this kit. When finished, you may want to frame your art or stick a magnet on the back to attach wherever you wish.
